Every surgeon at our practice is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). Dr. Allen Chien, Dr. Ardavan Kheradpir, Dr. Shannon Barnhart, Dr. Brian Huh, and Dr. Thomas Curiel work together with our highly trained staff to provide outstanding patient care with a personal touch.
Our oral surgeons are on staff at Community Regional Medical Center, Clovis Community Hospital, St. Agnes Hospital, Childrens Hospital Central California, Kaiser Permanente Fresno Medical Center, and Veterans Affairs Hospital Fresno. One of our doctors is always on call.
Our team consists of talented individuals who make every patient feel at home. You can find us at any of our four offices in the Central Valley. Our primary location is in Fresno, California, and our other offices can be easily accessed just northwest, due north, and southeast of the city.
Dr. Chien has years of experience extracting teeth, placing dental implants, and performing the full range of oral and maxillofacial surgery procedures. When he isnt at Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center, Dr. Chien participates in a variety of dental and medical charity events in Fresno and the surrounding communities. He is also on staff at our local hospitals for trauma calls and other more extensive procedures.
Open and honest communication is central to his practice. He appreciates working and communicating with referring dentists to treat their patients. Dr. Chien was a dentist before he became an oral surgeon, and this experience gives him a unique perspective. He has extensive knowledge of all dental and oral surgery procedures.
Dr. Chien earned his bachelors degree at the University of Southern California (USC). He knew he wanted to pursue dentistry, so he finished an accelerated dental program through USC. After practicing dentistry in the Los Angeles area, Dr. Chien did an oral surgery internship at the USC Medical Center before being accepted into the oral and maxillofacial residency program in Fresno.
Dr. Chien completed his residency at the Community Medical Center in Fresno, which is now called UCSF Fresno. This program gave him years of experience performing reconstructive surgery, extractions, and the full range of oral surgery procedures. After finishing his residency in 2009, Dr. Chien joined Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center.
After finishing his training, Dr. Chien completed the steps to become certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). To become certified, Dr. Chien had to pass a test to demonstrate his knowledge of the oral and maxillofacial specialty. This certification acknowledges Dr. Chiens comprehensive understanding of the oral surgery specialty.
Dr. Chien is Stemodontics-certified and proudly offers this service at his practice. After a wisdom teeth procedure, he can harvest stem cells from the patient and have them stored in a secure laboratory.
As a young man, Dr. Kheradpir was treated for a facial injury, so he understands the treatment process from the perspective of a patient as well as a healthcare provider. After finishing his dental degree and oral surgery residency, Dr. Kheradpir went to medical school and completed a general surgery internship to further his knowledge of the medical field. Having both a medical and a dental degree allows him to treat patients with the highest level of training available. When hes not at the practice, he also has staff privileges and does trauma calls at many of our local hospitals.
After receiving his undergraduate degree in biochemistry at the University of Ottawa, Dr. Kheradpir went to dental school at Tufts University, where he earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 2000. He then completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program here in Fresno before going to medical school. He earned his medical degree from Louisiana State University in Shreveport before returning to Fresno and joining the practice. Dr. Kheradpir also completed a general surgery internship in Portland, further expanding his surgical skills.
Dr. Kheradpirs residency program gave him years of hands-on experience working with patients in need of reconstructive surgery, dental procedures, and the full range of oral and maxillofacial treatments. After finishing his four years of training at Community Medical Center in Fresno (now called UCSF Fresno), he finished his medical training and started working at Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center.
Dr. Kheradpir is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). To achieve this certification, he had to pass a test and demonstrate his knowledge of the treatments and conditions of the oral and maxillofacial region. This rigorous testing process further prepared him to treat patients at the highest level of care.
Dr. Kheradpir is Stemodontics-certified and offers stem cell services at this practice. Stem cells can be harvested from extracted wisdom teeth and stored for future uses in combating illness or disease.
After finishing her oral and maxillofacial surgery training, Dr. Barnhart served in the U.S. Airforce, treating patients in need of dental and facial procedures at a military and veterans hospital in Las Vegas. Once she finished her service there, she joined Fresno Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implant Center. Outside the practice, Dr. Barnhart has staff privileges at many of our local hospitals, where she also takes trauma calls.
Dr. Barnhart enjoys being part of a practice that makes the full range of oral and facial procedures available to their patients. She believes in treating all members of the care team with respect, from referring doctors, to patients, to other members of the practice or hospital staff. Every patient deserves individualized care to fit their needs, and Dr. Barnhart finds it very rewarding to help patients improve their lives. Whenever possible, she participates in dental charity events to help improve the health of the Fresno community.
After earning a bachelors degree in biomedical science from Texas A&M University, Dr. Barnhart was selected for a military scholarship program to complete her dental and oral surgery training. She earned her Doctor of Dental Science degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio before going on to finish her oral and maxillofacial surgery training.
Dr. Barnhart completed an oral and maxillofacial residency program at Wilford Hall U.S. Airforce Medical Center, where she gained years of experience treating patients for a wide range of oral and facial procedures. She then moved to Las Vegas where she completed her service and treated military members and veterans.
While in the Air Force, she served as an advanced trained general dentist, an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, and as the 99th Dental Squadron Clinical Flight Commander/Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon at Nellis Airforce Base in Nevada. She was chosen by the board to be promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, but she decided to leave the military. She moved to Fresno where she joined her husband, who is a Fresno City firefighter.
Dr. Barnhart is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS). This means that she has taken a comprehensive exam and demonstrated her knowledge of the full scope of the oral and maxillofacial surgery profession. Completing the rigorous certification process shows that Dr. Barnhart is prepared to treat patients at the highest level of oral surgery care.
Outside of work, Dr. Barnhart enjoys runningshe has trained for both half and full marathons. She also likes spending time outdoors by rock climbing, hiking, scuba diving, skiing, and snowshoeing. Her family is what brought her to Fresno, and she enjoys living in this area and spending time with her husband and stepchildren.
